Atheists and Theists

Both theists and atheists are wrong; They are partly right, but not completely.

Theists brandish their Bible, atheists brandish their Big-Bang; when both flags are wrong, neither are as infallible as claimed.

Theists cling so tightly to their bible that they don’t realize they are not worshiping God, but a book. They adore a book that they qualify as the word of God, when that book contains a lot of details unsuitable to God.

I am not referring to stories of incest, or personal or group cruelty; that is history and, as such, admissible and respectable; I mean things like, for example: implying that rabbits are ruminants and that bats are birds (Deuteronomy 14:4 and following).

On the other hand, my dear theists, is it proper from an almighty God to stage all the theatre he puts on in Ezekiel 1 to show that he is the Great God? It seems ridiculous to me.

Let me literally copy what I say in my book “Histérica Historia” (If you manage reading Spanish, you can get it on this same website, on the page Histérica Historia):

“What does the believer do when he reads that (Ezekiel 1)?

«He doesn’t read it, he skims over it, it’s all so confusing that we prefer to conclude «God appeared to him in all his glory» and we move on, nobody stops to read it in detail because they get lost, they don’t understand anything and simply imagine that that scene must have been great because of the huge celestial splendor with which God showed up.

“I insist, nobody reads it and analyzes it in detail. It isn’t the only place in the Bible that we read over, there are many situations which we don’t understand, but we take them as good without any analysis, we leave them as grandiose, or as mysterious, and since both concepts are well associated with God, well, it’s ok so, period.

“But, do we honestly believe that an Almighty God needs to present himself with such incomprehensible paraphernalia of noises, thunder, lightning, fires, brightness, beings that are not, but seem to be, faces of animals, wheels within wheels and full of eyes, voices of multitudes or sound of many waters, etc., etc.? Do they really believe in such a theatrical god? What did God intend with that super show? Scare, subjugate, impress? It seems to me that to believe all that in a god is to have a very poor image about divinity.

“Let’s analyze that first chapter of Ezekiel and realize that all the time he is saying: “in the likeness of”, “with the appearance of”, “similar to”, etc. That’s to say, nothing was what he saw, but everything was similar to things known by that poor man who didn’t know how to describe all that.”

Ezequiel details what he saw so precisely that Peter Kolosimo (I think it was him in one of his books) comments that one of the NASA engineers used it to design the all-terrain module they created to take samples on the Moon and on Mars.

Atheists, on their side, don’t realize that all their energy is put in denying believers’ God (because it is the only or main one that surrounds their social environment) relying on the very valid idea that there can’t be a god, such an ass-hole, that being the only one who can do whatever he wants, he allows the amount of shit that intoxicates our beautiful world.

But their error is in concluding that, since that god doesn’t exist, there’s no God at all.

That is the point, as the Semitic god (Yahweh, Jesus Christ, Allah) who is the one they know, doesn’t exist (at least, as a God, perhaps as another being); they conclude that there is no God (so, with a capital letter); because, they are also so funny that they love to write «god» (so, in lower case) because he doesn’t exist; but neither do Cinderella, Lucifer, Pinocchio, Santa Claus, Zeus, etc., and they write those names with capital letters. Obviously, because they are names of unique beings; but that is the same case with God.

Dear atheists, you can deny God, but don’t fall into radicalism. «God» (with a capital letter) is not a being, it is a concept about a unique being (existing or not existing) and, as a unique being, conceptually the origin of everything, it must be written with a capital letter; to differentiate from «god» (lowercase) which defines a revered, but not unique being.

On the other hand, the Bible is not a fairy tale, it is a history book as valid as cuneiform tablets, as valid as Egyptian hieroglyphics, but with moralistic attempts at social harmony that has been elevated to the category of “Word of God” and that is when we have screwed it up, because in its multiple translations, each one has added what they wanted to make it «more precious» such as «Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you kill the prophets, and stone those who are sent!» to you! How many times I wanted to gather your children, as the hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and you didn’t want to! (Matthew, 23, 37).

But, of course, we are so used to seeing ourselves surrounded by chickens that we believe they have been with us since the beginning of time; when, quite the contrary, chickens began to be raised in Europe in the Middle Ages. Notice that, in Old Testament, when defining clean and unclean birds, hens and chickens are not mentioned at all.

Good old Joseph Smith fell into that same error when he wrote his Book of Mormon:

“3 Nephi; 10:4 “O people of these great cities that have fallen, who are descendants of Jacob, yes, who are of the house of Israel, how many times have I gathered you together as the hen gathers her chicks under her wings and I have fed you!”

To poor Smith, chickens have been with us since Adam and Eve, no doubt!

The thing about the rooster singing and Peter denying Jesus is possible because the rooster was known since, along with the pheasant and other exotic birds, they were brought from the East for the feasts of the great lords at special festivities and that episode takes place in the Jewish Passover. Let’s remember how, some 1,100 years later, Richard the Lionheart, dressed as a monk, was suspicious in an inn when he asked for a rooster to eat “Rooster! Who is this lunatic who asks for a food that only great lords can buy? Something that cost him to be arrested and kidnapped by the Duke of Austria.

Jesus the Christ was a very, very clever invention of Saul (Paul) of Tarsus, true creator of Christianity (later institutionalized by Emperor Constantine I).

But, my atheist friends, the Big-Bang is also wrong; for it is a theory based on another theory which, in turn, is based on an assumption.

There is a fact: galaxies change light frequency passing from a high frequency range to a lower frequency range; so, applying to light the same concept of the Doppler effect in sound, stars are supposed to be moving away. Theory A: If the stars move away, means that they were closer to each other time before. Theory B: If they were closer, «it is logical» to deduce that “once upon a time” they were once so close as to be huddled together in a conglomerate of matter-energy that… Conclusion: At one point, that pressure was so strong that, «obviously», had to explode and that was the birth of the Universe: The Big-Bang Bravo! Applause!! We already have a scientific beginning (creation) of the Universe without the need of a God, let’s buy that, let’s buy it!

However, I have never agreed with that idea. Well, if the energy-matter was tightly packed, for how long was it like that? And, more importantly, what caused something that is trillions, quadrillions of years in an X situation, to suddenly explode?

Where was the inertia, the one that tells us that nothing changes its energy attitude until it is forced by an «external» power? External!! I begin to glimpse a God, but it is clear that he is not the god of the bible.

This is how (in more detail) I say it in my aforementioned book in which I affirm that the Cosmos is eternal and is like a great heart with its diastoles and systoles… and, suddenly, now scientists are saying that they are not the galaxies moving away, but the space that expands and contracts, sinks, flattens, bulges and, logically, the galaxies in that area seem to move away, approach, disappear, appear, etc.

But an eternal universe? Let’s begin to properly mentalize two concepts that are distorting our vision much more than the concept of God; and they are Time and Space.

Neither time nor space exist; they are human concepts, they are necessary measures to understand, quantify, the changes we perceive in ourselves, in others and around us: now (time) I am here (space), then (time) I will be there (space); even if we put a whole human life between that «now» and that «then» and even if we put the antipodes between that «here» and that «there», we will be talking about a practically «tiny almost nothing» (although for us it is «a lot» , “quite” or “enough”), compared with “eternity” and “total space”.

By «total space» I mean that if matter-energy has ever been in what we think of as a big ball, packed all together, that was all the existing space; now, as the galaxies are (and whatever as they could or can be) it’s all the existing space; at a cosmic level, one is the same as the other: it is always Everything, the All, the Whole.

To be asking what is outside of space? Or, when galaxies expand, where do they get more space? Are misleading inconsistencies of our mind that is only capable of conceiving a Something when there is in opposition (almost leaning on) a not-Something. It seems that we cannot conceptualize a Something, a Whole if there is not a Nothing in opposition. It seems that we need a Nothing before (time) that Something, or an outside (space) off that Everything.

Eternity. When the believer speaks that God is eternal, he conceives it in the idea that God has always existed and will exist forever and ever, amen. But God (if there is one) is not eternal, he/she is timeless; which isn’t the same. Timeless means that in that Being there is no time, his existence is an eternal (timeless) present.

Let’s see: when God is defined as being supercalifragilisticexpialidociously possessor of all good things to the highest possible degree (nobody and nothing can be superior to him/her), something that I consider fundamental is usually omitted: God, or that unique Entity with existence “per se”, origin of everything , is Immutable; that is to say: he cannot change, because a being that can change (like every generated being, with received existence) is potentially mutable to the point of disappearing, ceasing to exist.

Pure Existence cannot cease to be existence; it is immutable and timeless.

Therefore, that unique Entity, genuine Existence, cannot create because then we would have a before and an after that creative act; that being doesn’t make any favorable or unfavorable decisions, because we would have a before and an after that decision, that entity doesn’t have a will (the will of God) because he/she doesn’t need it at all.

What is the will?: “The faculty of deciding and ordering one’s own behaviour. The act with which the volitional power admits or rejects something, wanting it, or hating and repugnant it. It’s the intention, mood or resolution to do something.”

But all that implies a before and an after analyzing, weighing, meditating and then deciding; which means: Time, something that doesn’t exist in God.

Atheists, I know that the word God squeaks you; but we don’t have a better one; so, the best thing to do is not to associate that word with any of the beings that the so considered holy books name as God. That’s all.

But I think that we cannot deny the existence of a Being, of a pure Existence Entity, the only Existence per se, timeless, immutable, from which everything proceeds. A being from whose Essence flows all the laws, rules, norms, parameters, codes, interrelationships, paradigms or whatever you want to call it, which end up forming (from our point of view, over millions of millions of millions of times) everything that we know.

It isn’t necessary to think that from this “SheHe” emanates infinity of elements; no, surely there are only a few (just mind about the simplicity of such fundamental elements as water or DNA), but all those few elements are accompanied by interrelation laws plus a random factor, so that everything we know, we included, is formed.

In my books “Histérica Historia” and “Relaciones” I present the example of a deck of 52 cards, two dice and a chessboard with its 64 squares and 32 pieces. Can you imagine the huge number of possible combinations that can be randomly given with just those three sets?

It’s similar in the Cosmos, but whatever doesn’t achieve sufficient consistency and cosmic harmony, disappears or evolves (by necessity) to something different, improved. In this way, stable systems are consolidated and persist as long as nothing external affects them and makes them «necessarily» evolve to something superior or improved; and so, some millions of our years (million up, million down), a new element or a new being arises. What’s the hurry?

Just as a flower is a flower, whether or not it emits perfume; it is clear that if we perceive perfume it’s because there is a flower: All the great cosmic, galactic, planetary, terrestrial, organic, mental wonder that surrounds us, is telling that there is a Flower that emanates this wonderful perfume of which we are another bit (regardless of the fact that there are parts of this specific bit of perfume that smell rotten, but… that’s another story).

Obviously, to a God-Flower Being of these characteristics, it makes no sense to ask him/her for anything, since neither he/she can «hear» us nor can attend to us (because there would be a before and an after hearing us and deciding whether attending us or not) .

However, hold it… we are part of a perfect Cosmos; therefore, get convinced that in ourselves there is a very special force that comes from that God and also get convinced that we are part of a mostly harmonious Cosmos, we should believe in our own capacity to regenerate ourselves positively, to heal ourselves, to grow as human beings every day; more and more perfect.

Jesus of Nazareth (who did exist and spoke words of great wisdom and knowledge about the human being, without being God) always said «Your faith has healed you» he never said «Your faith in me…» which is the interpretation given by Christians. By this he meant, not that having faith in God or in him would give us the cure, but that faith in the fact that something, out of its vitally, felt necessity, will happen and can be achieved, is enough. The problem is that we don’t believe in ourselves.

But beware, making a wish come true doesn’t work. That we are granted a whim, doesn’t work. Only a true need works. Only the vital need (I repeat, vital) of something, does work. If the need is felt (I repeat, felt, not wanted) by a group, that need is more easily satisfied; that’s from where Religion comes.

Atheists, many times, are atheists, not only because God «doesn’t care about us», but because «priests/pastors are scoundrels», «the Vatican», «churches are sheep pens», «religion is the opium of the people”, etc., etc.

Religion comes from the Latin «religare», that is, to meet, join together and form a group. That was the beginning of religion, gathering the cosmic-magnetic force of the minds of a good group of humans; because all together strongly feeling the same vital need, will give the desired and needed result.

That has been the purpose of the Rosary, something used in many cultures and religions.

The bad thing is when the rosary is prayed like someone eating popcorn: “blah, blah, blah”, “ora pro nobis”, “ble, ble, ble”. “pray for us”, etc.

It is true that the rosary is like a mantra which seeks to momentarily eliminate the thinking mind and get carried away by the mystical environment and mutual need as the only element present; but people say the mantra over and over again while they are thinking about what they have left outside the temple. That is not religion (group meeting with a vital need to achieve) but just to fulfill a ritual simply to earn points and achieve a better little corner in Heaven.

And here I leave it, because, if I don’t, I end up writing an entire book. Atheists, leave the believers in peace, they are not sheep. Believers, leave the atheists in peace, they are not ignorant, nor heretics, nor… whatever. As hard as it can be for you to believe, God is not going to punish them, that would be a before and an after punishing them, and in God there is no time, he/she would cease to be God.
