I want to share my musical work «Embrujo andaluz»
Everything has its history. including this little work.
Well, listen here to my «Andalusian Charm» and read its story while you listen to it:

In 2018-19, a colleague, within the group of writers we were part of, wrote a collection of poems that I loved.
The first poem was something like Fear knocking on the door of a young woman and asking her why she had called him, since he never came if he was not called, alluding to the fact that we create fears ourselves and that it is not as ugly as we imagine it; fear permits to be controlled.
The rest of the poems were no longer on that subject, but they could very well link up with the first one; therefore, I proposed her to create a musical.
She loved the idea and so I began to compose the music based on the lyrics of the poem (hence the knocking at the beginning, not the bells, that came later).
But she didn’t get involved in the slightest, when I had asked her to do the plot together the two of us, since that collection of poems was hers.
Given her carelessness, I decided to forget about the musical, but take advantage of the music already written.
Having written that initial atmosphere of fear and mystery and remembering some melodies composed several years ago, but without taking advantage of it, I decided to add them and write «Embrujo andaluz».
The first one sounds at minute 0:43.
The following is that kind of march (somewhat ghostly) at minute 1:14.
The following are variations until we come to a melody (composed in 1987) that I appreciated very much, but could not decide how to use it.
That melody is the guitar solo (immediately taken up by the orchestra in counterpoints) that starts at minute 4:00.
A melody that I even played (at the request of an English friend of mine) in 1988 on the piano at a cèilidh organized by the United Kingdom embassy, where I was a invited to.
I included it in this work convinced that this was the place and I developed the rest.
The work (taken by leaps and bounds among other activities and circumstances) was practically finished in 2021 (minute 12:00 in this work); but I was missing how to finish it.
For more than a year (also by leaps and bounds) I was looking for how to end it; With a great orchestral hit? Finishing it the same way it started, but how close to the same? I couldn’t decide.
October 1st (2022) I was at a baptism. There I met a pretty young woman who caught my attention because of her clearly inca profile. In fact, her last name is Gualpa (do you remember Ata-Hualpa or Ata-Gualpa?).
We enjoyed a conversation that was highly agreeable; she is a biologist and we talked about biology, the miracle of life, God, the Universe; And, just as well as she told me about her Biology, I told her about my creations and how it was taking me to find how to finish «Embrujo Andaluz».
She surprised me when we said goodbye, because while we gave each other the acustomed farewell hug, she told me: «Finish that work».
An unknown young lady, with whom I had just had a pleasant conversation and exchange some ideas, encouraged me (asked me) to finish this work, was enough for me to put on it the next day and finish it with a simple ending, which I think decidedly, is the most appropriate.
That mysterious and magical beginning with that relaxed ending and like everything overcome and beginning a new day, made me think of the chimes of 12 at night when everything mysterious begins and the magical coven begins; For this reason, I decided to add at the beginning that initial chime of bells that is immediately overshadowed by the beginning of the mystery and magic with an Andalusian flavor.
If anyone wants to use it to create a ballet, happy to collaborate on the details.
